Zaha is returning to Clear Mountain Fairview for the 2009 breeding season.   The son of Kingmambo has enjoyed a splendid season and has now sired 17 individual winners.

Zaha’s Pride leads the charge with four wins for Michael Nolan.  The Toowoomba trainer bought him for $22,000 from the Clear Mountain Fairview draft at the 2007 Gold Coast Magic Millions.

Zaha’s third crop are two year-olds and include the Liam Birchley trained flyer Sniplaz who won his fourth juvenile race at Eagle Farm on April 4.   He was a $7,500 buy at the 2008 Gold Coast Magic Millions when offered by Wayne and Michelle Milner’s Coleychelle Farm.

Zaha started shuttling from Ireland to Clear Mountain in 2003 and he returned to Coolagown Stud in Co. Cork for what seemed like the final time after the 2008 season.

“We stopped bringing him out due to the rising cost of shuttling plus the exchange rate for the Australian dollar,” Clear Mountain Fairview’s Bob Frappell said this week.  “But people kept on asking whether we would bring him back again.”

The push was strong enough to prompt a change of plans and Zaha will return for a $6,600 service fee.

Zaha (Kingmambo – Play All Day by Steady Growth) was a 2yo G1 winner of the Coronation Futurity in Canada by a clear-cut four length margin.

Northern Dancer and Sunny’s Halo won the Futurity on route to their Kentucky Derby victories.

Zaha is a son of French 2000 Guineas winner and outstanding sire Kingmambo from G3 winning filly Play All Day.  The dam has also foaled G1 Santa Anita Oaks winner Hedonist (Alydeed) and G3 New York winner Seeking Daylight (Seeking The Gold).

Zaha yearlings sold very well at both January and March Magic Millions.  His yearling colts and fillies ended up with some of Queensland’s leading trainers including Pat Duff, Daryl Gollan, Alan Bailey, Brian Guy and Graham Banks.
