Lynward Park resident Bondi sired Beach Pad to a fighting victory at Morphettville on Saturday and he buttered up with Northam winner Simply Royalty in the Triple M Maiden (1100m) on Monday.
Simply Royalty is trained by Ryan Hill for owner Chris Harding and was easy to back at $11 at her first start despite a close second to subsequent Pinjarra winner Order Online (Gingerbread Man) in a barrier trial at Ascot last month.
She settled in behind the speed and produced an impressive turn of foot when angled into clear running by Hill’s partner Victoria Corver to defeat the Peters Investments pair Nicciana (Nicconi) and Lavish Charm (Xtravagant).
“Chris is a good mate of ours and he bought her from Troy van Heemst at Lynward Park,” Hill recalled. “It was an online sale and Troy said she was a lovely filly but a bit on the small side. We gave her time and now she’s rewarding Chris for his patience.
“She’s pulled up fine but we’re in no rush. Best to let the dust settle before making a decision whether to stay in work or send her out for a break.”
Lynward Park bought into the family when John Chalmers (as agent) purchased her second-dam Windana (Danehill) from Collingrove Stud for $72,500 at the 2005 Magic Millions National Sale. It was an inspired buy as she was sold carrying Simplyirresistible (Royal Academy) who won at Ascot and Belmont before earning black-type when placed in Listed company behind Rosie Rocket (Blackfriars) in the 2011 La Trice Classic (1800m).
Simplyirresistible has been a revelation at stud with every one of her six foals to race being winners. Simply Royalty (Bondi) follows Young Thor (Frost Giant), New Amsterdam (Trade Fair), All Day Session (Sessions), Manhattan Strip (Manhattan Rain) and Simply Thinkin (So You Think).
Her Gingerbread Man yearling colt was a $70,000 buy for Ash Maley at this year’s Perth Magic Millions shortly after she had been pensioned with another foal at foot by Gingerbread Man.
