Peters Investments-bred mare London’s Image continued to ramp up her residual value with another black-type victory in the LR Pinjarra Classic (1300m) on Sunday.
It was her third strike at Listed level and she left it late to nail a four-way finish from Talkanco, Fast Flicker and Elite Missile. It followed the 2024 Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m) and 2025 TBWA Breeders Classic (1400m) when she raced in the blue and white striped silks of owner-trainer Ryan Hill.
London’s Image (4m Headwater – New Image by More Than Ready) was a $20,000 buy for Hill when offered by Holbrook Stud as agent for Peters Investments at the 2023 Adelaide Magic Millions. She paid that back with earnings over $460,000 before Hill mined another successful seam selling her for $360,000 at the 2025 Inglis Chairman’s Sale.
“It’s definitely a business decision knowing it will help build our operation going forward.,” Hill told AAP. “My heart tells me to keep her, she’s given us great thrills, no doubt about that. There were some memorable performances especially the win in the Burgess Queen.”
London’s Image was purchased by an Ultra Racing Syndicate and now races in the Black & Emerald Green colours of Ultra Racing principal Sean Buckey. The sale also meant a change of address from Hill’s Keysbrook stable to Grant & Alana Williams at Karnup.
It also signalled the 20th anniversary of Miss Andretti (Ihtiram) being purchased by Buckley from south-west owner-trainer David Mueller. She had won 9 of 15 starts and changed hands following an unplaced effort in the 2006 Newmarket Hcp (1200m) won by Takeover Target (Celtric Swing).
Miss Andretti went on claim Australian Horse of the Year honours in the same Black & Emerald Green colours after winning Group 1 sprints at Flemington (3) and Moonee Valley (2) plus an international victory in the G2 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Buckey is still waiting for a return from Miss Andrettti at stud. From six foals to date, she has thrown just the one city winner Mr Hamilton (Nicconi). Her 4yo unraced mare Misty Road (Shamus Award) is with Team Williams and her 2yo unraced filly Conclusion (Star Witness) is with Danny O’Brien.
He can look forward to a better future with London’s Image who owns a black-type pedigree nurtured for generations by Bob and Sandra Peters. She’s by Vinery Stud sire Headwater (Exceed And Excel) over New Image (More Than Ready) who was a Listed winner of the 2010 Belmont Oaks (2000m) and 2011 Matchmaker Classic (1400m) in the cerise and white silks.
She is a half-sister to Perfect Reflection (G1 Kingston Town Classic), Ideal Image (G3 La Trice Classic) and Elusive Image (LR Belmont Classic). Second-dam Reflected Image (Bluebird) won the G2 WA Oaks (2400m) in 1999.
Liam Peters (Byerley Bloodstock) purchased three yearlings for Peters Investments during Book 1 at the Perth Magic Millions. The Playing God – Morning Song colt (Lot 35) from Alwyn Park made $160,000 followed by the Maschino – Smart Promise gelding (Lot 79) from Rangeview Stud that sold for $100,000 and the Playing God – Dainty Tess filly (Lot 158) that looked a definite dual-purpose buy from Yarradale Stud for $340,000.
