No Limits for Gold Front

Gold Front Thoroughbreds topped off a winning month with Outspoken Lad (Awesome Rock) in the $100,000 Diggers Cup (1800m) on Anzac Day and they segued into May with Beyond The Limits (Ole Kirk) and Rock ‘N’ The Jam (Awesome Rock) completing another city double at Ascot on Saturday.

Mr Bling and TBWA Winner Of The Week Quokka Rocka had doubled up at Belmont on April 22 for resident sire Awesome Rock and his Pearce Racing-bred 3yo Sayersitisn’tso scored first-up in a Strathalbyn maiden on April 29.

Beyond The Limits could be the best of that crew for Gold Front owner-breeders Alan and Sue Olive.  After racing past a mile for the first time on April 3, he cruised home by six-lengths in a Narrogin maiden (1900m) leading into the Glenroy Chaff Hcp (2200m) yesterday.

“He’s been working the house down and has done a good job,” Sue Olive said.  “He will go to the paddock now and keep growing.  He’s a big horse and his brain hasn’t quite caught up with his body yet.”

Beyond The Limits (3g Ole Kirk – Lucky Ana by Lucky Unicorn) tracked front runner Rock In Wonder (Awesome Rock) and appreciated galloping room to outstay the small field in a good test of his ability to fulfill the potential of a future Perth Cup horse.

Sue said as much when questioned by Lochie Taylor about what holds for next season.  “We will bring him back for a spring prep.  He doesn’t like being crowded and these wins are helping him progress and build confidence.”

Beyond The Limits is a younger half-brother to Dig Deep (Deep Field) who won the 2019 edition of the WATC G2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m).  He’s by Vinery Stud’s Champion First-Season Sire Ole Kirk (Written Tycoon) from a mare who was bred by Sir Patrick & Lady Hogan at Cambridge Stud.

Lucky Ana has an August filly foal from the first-crop by Hawaii Five Oh (I Am Invincible) and she was covered by him again in September at Vinery.
