Darley shuttler Ad Valorem landed his first Australia winner at Toowoomba on Monday. The Mick Nolan trained Tax Evader was successful in the XXXX Gold 2YO Hcp for owner David Silver.
Tax Evader (2c Ad Valorem – Zebithea by Barathea) defeated Regency Royale (Red Dazzler) and Tehuti (Conatus) at his first run back from a 14 week spell. He was a $16,000 purchase from the Murrulla Stud draft at the 2010 Inglis Classic yearling sale.
Ad Valorem (USA) sired 15 individual first-crop winners in Europe last year headed by Rome Listed winner Samaden. That total increased to 16 when Evans scored at Pisa on January 14.
The Group 1 winning son of Danzig shuttled from Coolmore in Ireland to Darley in Australia. Coolmore originally stood the son of Danzig in partnership with Woodlands Stud in Australia. When Bob Ingham sold up to Sheikh Mohammed, his share of Ad Valorem was absorbed by Darley.
That arrangement would appear to be at an end because Ad Valorem has remained at Darley’s Kelvinside base instead of returning to Ireland for the 2011 northern season.
Tax Evader had been runner-up to Double Impact (Mossman) at his first two starts at Toowoomba and Eagle Farm earlier this season. Nolan had considered taking him to Melbourne for the MVRC Inglis Banner on Cox Plate day but tipped him out for a spell instead.
Tax Evader is a half-brother to Hewentwhoosh (Dane Shadow) who won the $100,000 Scone Inglis 2YO Challenge in May 2009. Their yearling half-sister by Librettist is part of the Murrulla draft at the 2011 Inglis Classic yearling sale.
Ad Valorem was a G1 winner of the Middle Park Stakes (1200m) as a two-year-old and the Queen Anne Stakes (1600m) at four. He averaged 80 mares in his first three seasons at Kelvinside and was available for an $11,000 (inc gst) service fee in 2010.
