Alberton Park passed-in at Magic Millions National Sale

Alberton Park failed to make a $200,000 reserve at the Magic Millions National Sale on Sunday.  The NZ bred mare was passed-in less than 24 hours after winning the Strategic Airlines Plate (1350m) at Doomben.

Alberton Park (4m Thorn Park – Alberton Star by Stylish Century) was offered by Lakeview Stud as a racing and/or breeding proposition as Lot 1443 on the Gold Coast.

The Liam Birchley trained mare got home in a driving finish to beat Lake George (Pentire) and Jungle Heat (Jungle Pocket) on Saturday’s Doomben 10,000 support card.  “She’s been ultra consistent,” Birchley said.  “I think a race like the Gai Waterhouse Classic at Ipswich will suit her.”

Alberton Park has already earned black type with a second placing to Jasminka in the Listed Bright Shadow Hcp at Doomben in April.  She has won or been placed in 16 of her 23 starts.

Her NZ based half sister Lady Alberton (Golan) won the G3 Eclipse Stakes at Ellerslie in 2008.  Their dam Alberton Star also won an edition of the Eclipse in 2000.
