Sister Madly set the Magic Millions sale complex alight on Sunday morning when she made $1 million to the bid of Segenhoe Stud.
Sister Madly (4m Redoute’s Choice – Jade Tiara by Bureaucracy) was offered by Edinburgh Park owner Ian Smith who also bred her champion half-brother Silent Witness (El Moxie). He won 17 races in a row in Hong Kong and Japan between 2002 and 2005.
The regally bred mare was a G3 winner of the Southern Cross Stakes at Randwick in February and was also G1 placed in the SAJC Robert Sangster Stakes last year. She was retired after pulling up lame in the G1 The Galaxy in April.
Smith sold Jade Tiara some years ago and the mare is now under the ownership of Patinack Farm. Her 3yo colt Best Choice (Redoute’s Choice) won a Canterbury maiden for Apollo Ng earlier this season but hasn’t been seen since an unplaced run at Flemington in October.
Jade Tiara’s 2yo filly Silla Regalis (Encosta De Lago) cost $700,000 at the 2010 Inglis Easter yearling sale. She will race for Arrowfield and was runner-up in a Randwick barrier trial in February.
Jade Tiara wasn’t served in 2008 or 2009 and ASB records show she was covered by three Patinack stallions last year.
