All Conquering Moraitis & Hawkes

Nick Moraitis spreads his horses around but John Hawkes and sons Michael and Wayne are preparing more feature winners than all his other trainers combined.

Moraitis and Team Hawkes teamed up to win the Ipswich Mile last Saturday with Styling (Zabeel) and they doubled up with Zoot Suit (Zabeel) at Sunshine Coast last Sunday.

Zabeel sired Might And Power who took Moraitis and trainer Jack Denham on a once-in-a-lifetime ride winning the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups in 1997 and the Cox Plate in 1998.

Moraitis then hooked up with John Hawkes to claim the Sandown Guineas with Binding in 2004 and black-type sprints with iron-horse Malcolm in 2006-07.  Fuimicino followed up with wet-track wins in the G1 2007 AJC Derby and G1 2009 BMW and the latest rising star to carry the Might And Power colours is Love Conquers All

“He looks like a very nice horse,” Moraitis said after Love Conquers All won the Listed June Stakes at Randwick on June 12.  “John is rapt in him and said he had been going fantastic.”

Love Conquers All (3c Mossman – She’s A Meanie by Prince Salieri) won his maiden last September and then stepped up to Listed company to claim the Brian Crowley Stakes at Randwick.

He returned empty-handed after a hit-and-run raid to Melbourne for the G1 Coolmore Stakes but reappeared in the New Year to finish an unlucky third in the Magic Millions 3YO Trophy on the Gold Coast.

Love Conquers All returned after a 20 week break for a Randwick win in May and then overcame a check in running to win the June Stakes from WA sprinter Hay List.

“He’s pretty good,” Michael Hawkes said at Randwick.  “He is still learning and he keeps improving.  He’s tough and dug deep to beat the Perth horse.”

Love Conquers All was Mossman’s highest-priced yearling when he sold for $400,000 out of the Glenlogan Park draft at the 2009 Gold Coast Magic Millions.  Mossman (Success Express) has enjoyed a career-high season in 2009-10 with five stakes winners including Parriwi who won the Listed Lancaster Stakes at Eagle Farm on June 12.  Last week, Vinery Stud announced Mossman’s book for 2010 season was already full.

Love Conquers All is one of three winners for G1 Avondale Cup winner She’s a Meanie (Prince Salieri).  His older half-sister She’s Meaner (Falvelon) won the BTC Tommy Smith Slipper and Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Slipper.  The Gai Waterhouse trained filly was beaten a nose by Augusta Proud in the 2008 Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

She’s a Meanie has a 2yo filly named Cinderellas Secret (Danzero) and a yearling filly by Falvelon.  Waterhouse bought both youngsters at the 2009 and 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions.

Love Conquers All was being aimed at the G3 Healy Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm this Saturday, however, he has been given a break before resuming for a much-anticipated spring carnival campaign.
