All Play a sharp winner by Playing God

Playing God didn’t break stride into the New Year with winners at Ascot (All Play) on Wednesday and Pinjarra (Precious God) on Thursday.

The Darling View champion had sired the winners of 14 races in December headed by smart mare Rissoles in the $125,000 Epona Classic (1200m) at Ascot on Westspeed Platinum Day.  Her dam Snitz ‘N’ Giggles (Snitzel) foaled a Playing God in October for Rangeview Stud.

All Play is a Ridgeport graduate and he was winning for the third time this prep when getting the better of front-runner Lexington City (City Place) and the favourite Celestial Storm (Zoustar) in the Mumm Champagne Hcp (1000m).

“He’s got a motor but we’re rectifying his manners,” trainer Trevor Andrews said.  “He’s manageable at home although still a work in progress on raceday.  He’s a sharp Playing God and is built for speed.  I think he could develop into a Summer Scorcher horse this time next year.”

All Play (4g Playing God – Castle Keep by Oratorio) is from a winning half-sister to Lord’s Ransom (G2 Perth Cup) and full-sister to Palace Intruder (LR Aquanita Stakes).  He was bred and sold by Ridgeport and Mogumber Park for $110,000 at the 2022 Perth Magic Millions.

That was money well-spent by a syndicate that includes Trevor’s wife Joanne and long-time clients Ken Gregson, Ross Drage with Ridgeport’s Santo Guagliardo who kept a share.  All Play is a summer 4yo and his card is still in single figures but his bank-balance has reached $247,000 with Westspeed Bonuses of $90,000.

Precious God was backed confidently to break her duck at Pinjarra and she looked the winner after making an early move to challenge front-runner Kleva Conned (Snippetson) in the TABtouch Maiden (1300m).

Still in her first prep for trainer Paul Wagg, the 3yo filly forged clear in the straight and appears a likely type for owner-breeder Colin Loxton.  He knows the breed having raced Playing God to dual Group 1 victories in the Kingston Town Classic (1800m).

Precious God is the first foal from Precious Cargo (Trade Fair) who is a Belmont-winning full-sister to LR Scenic Blast Stakes (1000m) winner Cool Trade.  It’s a WA family going back nine generations to 1949 Champion Fillies Stakes winner Jennie (Talking).

Her second foal is a 2yo filly named Wonderfully Made.  She was a $250,000 buy for China Horse Club at the 2024 Perth Magic Millions and impressed trainer Dan Morton when runner-up in a Belmont 1000m trial on December 23.
