Anabandana made back-to-back feature wins when she powered home in the G2 Matamata Breeders’ Stakes (1200m) on Saturday. She was racing for the first time since a G3 victory in the Eclipse Stakes at Ellerslie on New Year’s Day.
Anabandana (2f Anabaa – Great Notice by Nureyev) was a $26,000 buy as a foal out of the Reavill Farm draft at the 2009 Magic Millions National weanling sale. Leading New Zealand bloodstock agent Marcus Corban bought her on behalf of Hamilton based owner Christopher Grace.
She is by deceased Widden Stud shuttler Anabaa. He has sired world-champion mare Goldikova and his Kiwi stock includes Imananabaa who won the G1 Railway Stakes on New Years Day in 2008.
Great Notice has foaled five winners including the AJC Gimcrack Stakes winner Gybe. She is sister to the international stakes winner European Rose and the latter is the dam of New Zealand 1000Guineas winner King’s Rose.
