Arrowfield stallion Hussonet sired his fourth domestic stakes winner of the season when Latin News won the Listed Gosford Guineas on Thursday. The Bart Cummings trained colt appreciated the quick pace to power home and score by a length from Flowerchild who is by fellow Arrowfield sire Redoute’s Choice.
Latin News (3c Hussonet – Email Me by Danehill) is trained by Bart Cummings and was racing first-up since finishing fourth to Graceful Anna in the Magic Millions 3YO Trophy in January.
Bart bought Latin News for $180,000 out of the Baramul Stud draft at the 2008 Gold Coast Magic Millions. He is the first winner for Sydney and Brisbane winner Email Me who is closely related to Group 1 racehorse and sire Marauding.
The form out of the Magic Millions 3YO Trophy continues to stack up. Runner-up Tallow subsequently scored a G3 victory in The Vanity at Flemington. She is trained by Anthony Cummings for John Singleton. Australia’s Champion 3yo (elect) Shoot Out finished fifth.
Hussonet sired Australian Horse of the Year Weekend Hussler in his first Australian crop and his other Australian / NZ stakes winners so far this season have been Eagle Falls (G2 VRC Salinger St), Gold Trail (G1 NZ Railway St & G2 AJC The Shorts) and Huxssen (LR Hareeba St).
Latin News, Eagle Falls and Gold Trail are all from Danehill line mares. Hussonet will be available on a Foal Shares Only basis at Arrowfield in 2010.
