Striking chestnut Perfect Punch joined Starcraft’s strong team of spring stars with a Listed victory in the Hill Smith Stakes (1800m) at Morphettville on Saturday.
Perfect Punch (3c Starcraft – Tayasu Run by Tayasu Tsuyoshi) is one of seven individual stakes performers for the Arrowfield stallion this season. He follows Celebrity Girl, Hallowell Belle, Do You Think, Secret Hills, Crafty Irna and Quackquack.
A $300,000 buy from the Mill Park draft at the 2010 Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale, Perfect Punch is owned by Harry and Hamish Perks, Graeme Bignell, Rob Chapman and Dick Jones.
He was bred by the Countrywide Breeding Syndicate and is the first foal of Listed WA Belmont Classic winner Tayasu Run. Second dam Millrun (Belele) is a three-quarter-sister to G1 WA Derby winner The Bukhra.
Perfect Punch completed a double for Arrowfield sires in Adelaide. The Redoute’s Choice mare Paris Memory had saluted earlier in the day for Cressfield owner Bruce Neill. She is from a half-sister to the dam of G1 winners Easy Rocking and Fairy King Prawn.
Redoute’s Choice was also in the frame when Dystopia won in Saturday. The Bob Ingham owned mare is another with enormous residual value – she is a sister to champion sire Stratum.
