Aussie shuttlers relocated in Kentucky

Australian shuttlers Artie Schiller and U S Ranger have been relocated from Pauls Mill to WinStar Farm for the 2012 northern hemisphere breeding season.

Artie Schiller shuttled to Independent Stallions from Pauls Mill Stud for three seasons from 2007 to 2009.  The G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile winner will return to Victorian again this year.  U S Ranger toured here for a one-off season while Artie Schiller remained at Pauls Mill in 2010.

The change of studs in Kentucky will not affect the 2011 shuttle deal struck between Pauls Mill and Independent Stallions studmaster Mike Becker.

Artie Schiller (El Prado) has 8 stakes horses to date led by Mr. Commons who recently captured the LR Oceanside Stakes at Del Mar.  He has sired 7 first-crop juvenile winners in Australia this season and will stand for a $13,200 (inc gst) at Independent Stallions this year.

WinStar Farm has acquired an interest in all four stallions that stood at Pauls Mill – Bellamy Road, Summer Bird, Artie Schiller and U S Ranger.  “This was a rare opportunity to buy into four promising young stallions at the upswing of their careers,” WinStar president Elliott Walden said.

Walden’s elder brother Ben Elliott will continue to own and operate Pauls Mill but will no longer stand stallions.  “Ben has done a fabulous job developing these four young stallion prospects.  He will stay involved and continue to have a significant interest in their future.”

WinStar Farm will shuttle 2010 Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver (Maria’s Mon) to Eliza Park this year.
