Godolphin filly Snow Dance (GB) will return to the land of her dam after being purchased by Sheamus Mills Bloodstock (FBAA) at the Tattersalls July Sale last week.
Snow Dance (3f Raven’s Pass – Causeway Lass by Giant’s Causeway) cost 45,000gns (AUD 77,590) to the bid of Mills and Bahen Bloodstock on Day 1 of Europe’s Premier Summer Sale at Newmarket.
Blueblood Causeway Lass was trained by Peter Moody for a Listed victory in the 2006 Dequetteville Stakes at Morphettville. That black-type increased her value and Sheikh Mohammed was prepared to pay the extras when his agents called her connections the following year.
Subsequently shipped to England, she has foaled four winners topped by Dubai stakes-performer Good Place (Street Cry). Her current 2yo Folk Tale (Dubawi) won at Newmarket last month and he holds Group 2 entries for the Futurity Stakes at the Curragh and Gimcrack Stakes at York in August.
Causeway Lass is a daughter of Group 1 winning mare Canny Lass (Bletchingly) and is closely related to G1 Sydney Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Camarilla (Elusive Quality).
Snow Dance is bred along the same lines being by Elusive Quality’s G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Raven’s Pass.
Closer to home, Mills and his old boss Mick Price combined to win with Royal Disguise at Pakenham just prior to the July Sale.
Royal Disguise was given the run of the race by Noel Callow in the Super VOBIS 2YO Maiden Plate (1400m) and bolted in by more than three lengths. SMBloodstock bought her for $70,000 from Canning Downs Stud at the 2016 Gold Coast Magic Millions.
The Commands filly is from Randwick stakes winner Royal Mask (Royal Academy) and hails from a Canning Downs family going back 50 years to top stayers Tails and Man About Town.
