Averages dip at Florida 2YO Sales

A Pleasantly Perfect colt topped proceedings at US$260,000 during Day 1 of the Ocala 2YO Sale in Florida on Monday.  He was purchased by Alex and JoAnn Lieblong after breezing 400m in 20.80s.

The chestnut juvenile is from the winning Deputy Minister mare Minister Thatcher who has already thrown winners by Pleasantly Perfect and Dixie Union.  She is a half sister to Winsome (War Chant), a Listed winner of the 2005 Cellars Shiraz Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

The Pleasantly Perfect colt was bred in Kentucky and made $23,000 at the Keeneland yearling sale in September 2009.

The 196 juveniles sold on Day 1 averaged $23,363 which was down 10.5%.  The clearance rate remained steady at 74%.  The auction continues over four days until April 22.

THE Ocala Breeders also conducted the Adena Springs 2YO Sale in Florida on Sunday when an Awesome Again filly realised $115,000.  The grey filly is a half-sister to G2 winner Spring Waltz (Silver Charm).  The sole session’s overall average dipped 30% to $31,457.
