Belated breakthrough for Aussie Rules

Kabiddi gave former Coolmore shuttler Aussie Rules a belated breakthrough in Australia on Tuesday.

Kabiddi (3g Aussie Rules – Divine Rose by Nijinsky’s Way) won the Randwick Betting Auditorium Maiden (1400m) by a short-head at Warwick Farm.  He was a $36,000 buy for trainer Paul Cave at the 2010 Inglis Classic yearling sale.

A Danehill grey, Aussie Rules was a G1 winner of the French 2000 Guineas and Shadwell Mile at Keeneland.  He covered 76 mares in his first southern season in 2007 and his books kept building to 116 last year.

Aussie Rules had 9 first-crop two year-olds face the starter in 2010-11 without success.

His first northern hemisphere crop has been much more successful.  He has sired 40 individual winners to date including a half-dozen at stakes level.  In addition, there have been another 6 juvenile winners from his second crop so far this year.

Aussie Rules didn’t travel to Coolmore’s Hunter Valley base this year.
