Champion Chilean mare Belle Watling has been purchased by Japanese breeder Katsumi Yoshida.
Belle Watling (5m Dushyantor – Biala by The Great Shark) will be sent straight to Japan instead of being sold at November’s Fasig-Tipton Sale. She was owned by late Carl Lizza’s Flying Zee Stable.
Yoshida’s brother Teruya Yoshida bought a half share in Danedream prior to her victory in the Arc de Triomphe last Sunday.
Belle Watling was originally raced by Stud Don Theo and won 13 of her 16 starts in Chile including the Polla de Potrancas (Chilean 1000 Guineas) and El Ensayo (Chilean Derby) on the way to 2010 Horse of the Year honours.
Belle Watling has Australian connections on both side of her pedigree. Her sire Dushyantor (Sadler’s Wells) is out of a half-sister to the dam of Scenic.
Her sister Scarlet (Chi) was the Chilean Champion Filly in 2008. She is owned by Patinack Farm and has a yearling colt by Murtajill.
