Besilu Stables filled out its shopping list with a $1.20 million Bernardini filly on Day 3 of the Keeneland September yearling sale on Tuesday.

The filly is a half-sister to last year’s G1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf winner Shared Account (Pleasantly Perfect).

“I liked everything about her,” Leon Benjamin of Besilu Stables explained.  “The way she looks, the way she walks, the breeding.  She’s one of those fillies that will definitely be a very good broodmare for the farm in the future.”

Benjamin had paid $925,000 for a Street Cry rig and $725,000 for a Tapit filly during the select sessions on Sunday and Monday.

A Medaglia d’Oro colt consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency was next best at $600,000.  Black Rock Stables bought the descendant of Hall of Fame mare Sky Beauty (Blushing Groom).  Other G1 winners in the family include Maplejinsky (Nijinsky), Tale of Ekati (Tale of the Cat), Pine Island (Arch), Pleasant Home (Seeking the Gold) and Dayjur (Danzig).
 
Business was up substantially on Tuesday compared to the corresponding session a year ago.  Trade for the 200 yearlings reached $32.75 million and the average increased 22% to $163,783.  The median jumped 31% to $127,500.
