Champion stallion Awesome Again threw a scare into the Adena Springs camp on Monday night when he suffered a colic attack.

The 17 year-old stallion underwent surgery in Lexington on Tuesday morning and the prognosis is considered favourable barring further complications.

Awesome Again is a homebred for Adena Springs owner Frank Stronach.  He won the 1998 Breeders’ Cup Classic and is the sire of 2004 Horse of the Year Ghostzapper among 11 Group 1 winners.

Awesome Again (Deputy Minister) is a half-brother to 2000 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Macho Uno.  He stood at Adena Springs in Kentucky for a $50,000 advertised fee this year.
