Big time beckons All Too Soon

It would be appropriate if All Too Soon broke into the big time at Rosehill this Saturday.

The daughter of Vinery sire All Too Hard faces her first Group 1 test in the Vinery Stakes (2000m) and trainer David Payne is confident of a forward finish in an evenly-matched field of top-class fillies.

All Too Soon opened at $13 in pre-post betting earlier this week.  Last-start winners Unforgiven (Phar Lap Gr.2) and Luvaluva (Kembla Grange Classic Gr.3) head markets ahead of spring classic winners Alizee and Aloisia.

“She’s never been better and I’m confident the distance won’t be a problem,” Payne said.  “She worked home really well over 1900m last time and it was a great effort to finish so close against older horses.

“The barrier beat us that day.  She got too far back and Tye (Angland) said it was a very good run under the circumstances.  She’s a very good filly and we’ve always known she would need ground.  She’s on track for the Oaks and the Vinery is an ideal stepping-stone.”

The $1 million Australian Oaks (Gr.1) over 2400m will be run at Randwick on April 14.

The prospect of more black-type will boost All Too Hard’s third crop of yearlings at the Inglis Easter Sale next month.  Among the 9 lots are Vinery fillies from Group 1 winners Sacred Choice (Lot 338) and Snitzerland (Lot 363).

There were another two black-type additions for All Too Hard last weekend courtesy of Hardly Surprising (Moonee Valley) and Za Zi Ba (Rosehill).  They lifted his stakes-performers tally to 13 and his strike-rate at that level has soared to 25%.
