Birthday boy celebrates at Beverley

Trade Fair helped give trainer Micky Hammond a winning birthday present when Only Orsenfoolsies bolted in at Beverley on Tuesday.

Only Orsenfoolsies (3g Trade Fair – Desert Gold by Desert Prince) went clear up the hill to win by 8 lengths in the Emilie Will You Marry Nidge? Hcp (1700m).  He broke through on a bleak afternoon when stamina was the order of the day at Beverley.

“I was hoping the rain would ease – it’s bloody awful here,” Yorkshire based Hammond tweeted before the celebrations began at his Middleham stables.  “But Only Orsenfoolsies could be one to watch.”

Only Orsenfoolsies is raced by the This Time Next Year Partnership and was purchased as a foal for the equivalent of AUD 3,595 at Tattersalls in November 2009.

Trade Fair got him from a mare closely related to Nomrood (Alleged) who sired Beaux Art while standing in Western Australia.  She won the 1994 WA Derby – WA Oaks double and the following year was placed in the Caulfield Cup won by Doriemus.

Only Orsenfoolsies is one of 104 individual winners of 260 races sired by Trade Fair at a 58% strike-rate.

Trade Fair also sired Malaysian winner No Uncertainty on Sunday.  He is from Princess Camilla (King’s Best) and was sold by De Grey Park for $11,000 at the 2009 Perth Magic Millions.

“Breeders are waking up to Trade Fair’s constant success,” leading bloodstock agent John Chalmers said this week.  “The phone is ringing regularly.  And why not?  He is WA’s in-form stallion and is at a bargain price.”

Trade Fair (Zafonic) stands at Alwyn Park for a $4,950 (inc gst) service fee.
