Destroy continued his rise up the ranks with a last-start victory in the Westspeed Stayers Bonus (2000m) at Belmont. It improved his strike-rate to 4 wins in 11 starts for earnings over $70,000.
Destroy (4g Natural Blitz – Old Model by Old Spice) tracked the favourite Battle Ace and then peeled off his heels in the straight to score by over a length. “He’s was closer than normal and the race was run to suit,” part-owner Jodie Noske said. “He’s building up a good record and will keep getting better the further he goes.”
Noske’s husband Jeff trains the gelding after picking him up as a foal at the 2009 Perth Magic Millions Winter Sale. He was part of the Durham Lodge draft and cost just $2,500.
Destroy’s dam is a sister to Lawmaker who Noske rode to a history-making treble in the 2002 Kalgoorlie, Boulder and Coolgardie Cups.
Natural Blitz (Dehere) is based at Mogumber Park and he completed a winning double last week after Riverbend Cowboy scored at Northam.
Natural Blitz has another smart one in Singapore named Fish Rabbitfish. He won a Morphettville barrier trial last year as Jokers Son before selling to clients of trainer Steve Lam. Following a debut victory at Kranji earlier this year, he was tipped out for a long spell and resumed for a fading fourth to NZ bred Pasha Khan on Sunday.
Mogumber Park owners Colin Brown and Fiona Lacey stand Natural Blitz for a $2,500 service fee.
