The green and white colours of Yulong Investments saluted twice in as many days when Yulong January won at Swan Hill on Monday.

It followed Sunday’s victory by fellow 3yo first-starter Yulong Earth (More Than Ready) at Pakenham.

Yulong January is a son of Greta West Stud sire King Of Prussia and he couldn’t have been more impressive winning the Bet365 Maiden Plate (1200m). Trained by Ciaron Maher & David Eustace, he sat outside the lead and kept finding in the straight for a two-length victory over NZ-bred duo Irish Butterfly and Stripping Royalty.

“That’s the first time I’ve sat on him and I’m most impressed,” jockey Linda Meech admitted. “He’s bomb-proof. David told me he’s a nice horse and I was able to put him in a great spot. It was a field full of first-starters and they’re normally pretty strong races.”

Yulong Investments owner Zhang Yuesheng paid $20,000 for the King Of Prussia colt at the 2017 Inglis Premier yearling sale. He was offered by Bucklee Farm as agent for Wangaratta breeder Allan Price who accepted Yulong’s below-par bid at Oaklands due to a stifle issue that showed up on x-rays.

Yulong January is a full-brother to Adelaide stakes winner Justify That who earned more than $520,000. Their dam Duty With Honour (West Point) won at Moonee Valley for Price and trainer Robbie Griffiths.

King Of Prussia’s stakes-winning mare Prussian Vixen is primed for another spring campaign following a cosy win in a barrier trial at Cranbourne on Tuesday. She has won the last two editions of the G3 Bellmaine Stakes at Caulfield.

King Of Prussia (Anabaa) stands at Greta West Stud for a $2,200 service fee alongside Master Of Design (Redoute’s Choice) at $4,400.
