Brighton trainer Gary White predicts a bright future for Rich Bonus after she kept her unbeaten record intact in the Col ‘N’ Black Handicap (1120m) in Launceston on Sunday.
Rich Bonus (2f Danerich – Bonus Halo by Don’t Say Halo) showed brilliant early speed and then left her rivals standing in the straight to win by over four lengths. The lightly raced filly is from the first crop of Rangal Park’s Danehill sire Danerich.
White admitted he threw Rich Bonus in at the deep end by racing her first-up against older horses. “We’ve had a bit of an opinion of this filly from Day 1,” he said. “She was up against a handy field but, on her trackwork, we were confident she would be very hard to beat.
“Rich Bonus has had only two starts and she’s delivered both times. She will only be sparingly raced this time in but we fully expect her to come back for a decent campaign during the summer carnival.”
Rich Bonus is out of Bonus Halo who won 6 races in Tasmania and bowed out with a straight-six victory at Flemington.
Danerich (Danehill) possessed speed to burn and was trained by Robbie Laing to win the G3 McNeil Stakes (1100m) and Listed Mitchell McKenzie Stakes (1100m) at Moonee Valley.
From just 17 starts, he was also placed behind Apache Cat in the G2 Schillaci Stakes (1000m) and God’s Own in the G3 Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m).
Danerich stands with Keltrice (Kenmare) and Ne Coupez Pas (Nureyev) at Rangal Park in Euroa. For further information contact Eric Buttler (03) 9305 3475 or studmaster Tim Jackson (03) 5795 2148.
