Book 2 of the Keeneland September sale continued its ascension on the weekend with sessions on Saturday and Sunday.
A $475k Tapit filly was the most expensive among Lots 876 to 1299 sold on Saturday. And a $385k Medaglio d’Oro colt topped Sunday’s session from Lots 1300 to 1742.
Book 1 between Monday and Thursday last week saw 546 yearlings sell for $153.38 million. The average increased 39% to $280,925.
Cumulative figures for Book 2 saw 570 lots change hands for $63.53 million at a $111,468 average.
Monday trade begins six sessions of Book 3 through to Saturday, September 21.

Emirates Victoria shuttler made his first appearance on Sunday with two colts that both made $100k.
Lot 1510 from Trackside Farm is a younger brother to LR Queenston Stakes winner Bear’s Chill. Lot 1700 from Taylor Made Sales is a half-brother to USA stakes winner Justanoldsong (Unbridled’s Song).
BERNARDINI
Lane’s End sold Saturday’s top lot with a $200k filly from It Must Be Magic (Storm Cat) who is an unraced sister to G3 winner The Leopard.
The Darley sire had a quieter Sunday with a $140k colt selling to agent Nick de Meric. He is the first foal of Step Lively (War Chant), a half-sister to G1 Manhattan Hcp winner Dancing Forever (Rahy).
BIG BROWN
Vinery’s Kentucky Derby winner had 4 lots sell over the weekend with a filly from Hidden Brook Farm mare Boat’s Ghost (Silver Ghost) the leader at $90k. She is a younger half-sister to Finnegans Wake (Powerscourt) who was runner-up in the G2 Bowling Green Hcp at Belmont last Saturday.
CONGRATS
The Vinery sire’s Book 2 was more than satisfactory with 5 lots averaging $136k on Saturday. Allied Bloodstock’s Congrats colt from All Time High topping trade at $310k. Second-dam Oh What A Windfall (Seeking the Gold) was a G1 Matron Stakes winner.
On Sunday, another 12 lots by Congrats averaged $82k. The Paramount Sales colt from Devon Ridge (Cox’s Ridge) was top of the dial at $180k. He is a half-brother to 6 winners including the New York stakes performers Son of Sabato (Precise End) and Interpretation (Freud).
HARD SPUN
Darley shuttler had 7 sell on Saturday and topping his leader-board was the filly from A P Mink (A P Indy) that made $160k. The dam is a half-sister to USA stakes winners Palmeiro (Pleasant Tap) & Slews Final Answer (Seattle Slew).
Another 10 by Hard Spun sold on Sunday with the colt from Hidden Brook (as agent for Spendthrift Farm) the most expensive at $350k. Agent Ben Glass was the buyer for the colt who is a half-brother to stakes winner Safe Trip (Tale of the Cat).
MEDAGLIO D’ORO
Darley sire continued on from his exploits during Book 1 with 3 lots that sold for $737k on Saturday. Topping the trio was a filly from G2 Santa Ynez Stakes winner Jump On In that made $340k to Hill ‘N’ Dale Bloodstock.
Medaglio D’oro headed the leader-board on Sunday with a $385k filly from Loving Vindication (Vindication). Second-dam Chimichurri (Elusive Quality) was a G3 winner at Aqueduct.

Darby Dan’s colt from Foxcaller topped the bill on More Than Ready’s weekend at $230k. The mare has had 7 to race for 7 winners headed by Keeneland stakes winner Gangbuster (Langfuhr).
STREET CRY
His only lot to parade was a chestnut filly from Gainesway Farm that sold for $100k to Mark Roberts on Saturday. Her USA bred dam Lexington Girl (Storm Cat) was a 2yo winner in Japan and her first foal to race Lexington Pearl (Elusive Quality) has won 8 races to date in England and North America.
