Keeneland’s 12 session September Yearling Sale concluded on Saturday with a 27% rise on turnover to $280 million and a 17% increase in average to $102,220.
There were 18 million-dollar yearlings during the auction and the overall sale topper was a $2.50 million War Front colt sold to Coolmore Stud.
The following Australian shuttlers had progeny on offer during Book 3 which ran over 6 sessions from Monday to Saturday;
ALL AMERICAN
The first Kentucky bred yearling by Arrowfield Stud’s shuttler didn’t appear until Book 3. His half-brother to G1 Secretariat Stakes winner Ginger Ginger topped the week on Tuesday when selling for $45k.
AMADEUS WOLF
Chatswood Stud sire was the last of the Australian shuttlers with yearlings on offer at Keeneland. His colt from Chic Shanique (Dynaformer) was catalogued as Lot 3862 on Saturday and made $15k.
ARTIE SCHILLER
Emirates Victoria shuttler had two $100k colts sell during Book 2 and he backed up with a $150k filly on Monday’s opening session of Book 3. The Gainesway filly is the first foal of Azurite (Rock Hard Ten).
Artie Schiller was represented by another $100k colt from Taylor Made Sales on Tuesday. He is a younger brother to stakes winning colt Hammers Terror.
BIG BROWN
Vinery sire was a solid Book 2 performer with a Hidden Brook filly on top at $90k. His Book 3 started with a $65k filly on Monday followed by a $70k colt from Hidden Brook on Tuesday.
The second Hidden Brook youngster was purchased by Paul Pompa jnr who was a member of the partnership that raced Big Brown to classic victories in the 2008 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.
CONGRATS
No shortage of sons and daughters from the in-form Vinery stallion. His yearlings sold to $250k in Book 1 and $310k in Book 2.
Congrats had 4 yearlings make six-figures during Book 3 with Monday’s $140k leader from Listed winner Candybedandy (Holy Bull). The colt was sold by Taylor Made Agency to Jay Em Ess Stable.
HARD SPUN
Darley sire Hard Spun had colts make $360k and $300k during Book 1. A $290k filly topped his Book 2 entries.
His Book 3 yearlings were headed by a $65k half-sister to G3 winner Original Spin (Distorted Humor) on Monday and a $95k half-brother to Listed winner Yoursmineours (Belong to Me) on Tuesday.
HENNY HUGHES
Rangeview Stud shuttler had a colt from Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales that sold for $60k to Welcome Gate Farm on Wednesday. The chestnut is a half-brother to Boston Glory who was G2 placed in the Norfolk Stakes at Santa Anita.
MORE THAN READY
Vinery champion’s Book 1 draft was headed by a $310K filly from Denali Stud and his Book2 leader was a $230k colt from Darby Dan Farm.
A $115k colt from G3 Santa Anita winner Elusive Diva (Elusive Quality) was More Than Ready’s best Book 3 result on Monday. Offered by Claiborne, he was purchased by Cairan Dunne of Wavertree Stables.
His Tuesday leader realised $100k to the bid of Becky Thomas. The chestnut colt was offered by Vinery and is the first foal of Canadian stakes winner Authenicat (D’wildcat).
