Trainer Jeff Lynds completed a running double in the G1 Thornden Mile after Booming railed up to defeat Dasoudi (Elusive City) and Eileen Dubh (Storm Creek) at Trentham on Saturday.
Lynds won the feature mile last year with Wall Street and he went on to claim the G1 Emirates Stakes at the Melbourne Cup carnival.
Booming (6g Don Eduardo – Beautiful Sea by Grosvenor) also holds Group 1 nominations across the Tasman for the VRC Australian Cup and STC BMW Stakes. “I knew early on he could be something special,” Lynds said. “It has taken some time for him to get to this level but it’s great to see him grow into such a wonderful horse.”
Booming went into the Thornden Mile after a Group 1 breakthrough in the Zabeel Classic at Ellerslie on Boxing Day. He was bred at Fayette Park and was bought by Don Frampton for $50,000 from Seaton Park at the 2006 Karaka Select Sale.
His sire Don Eduardo stands at Haunui Farm and has a draft of 13 yearlings in the 2011 Karaka Yearling Sales Series starting on Monday. Booming’s half-sister by Postponed has also been catalogued for Karaka by Westbury Stud.
