Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Group 1 winning mare Dar Re Mi will race on as a five year-old in 2010 after finishing a gallant third in last Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Turf.
Dar Re Mi (Singspiel) enjoyed a banner year in 2009 with G1 victories in the Pretty Polly Stakes and Yorkshire Oaks but was controversially disqualified from the Prix Vermeille prior to finishing a creditable fifth to Sea The Stars in the Arc de Triomphe.
“Dar Re Mi will remain in training in 2010 and has come out of her race absolutely fantastic,” Watership Down Stud spokesman Simon Marsh told UK Racing Post yesterday. “She trotted up well afterwards and ate up everything, and we couldn’t be more happy with her. We will sit down and make plans in the next two weeks for 2010. She has been an absolute star and is the best middle-distance filly in Europe.”
