Trainer Richard Jolly reckons his Husson Lightning three year-old Pistolier has bright prospects in Adelaide.
Pistolier (3g Husson Lightning – Rossa Regina by Testa Rossa) triggered those comments after winning the Jock’s 80th Birthday Maiden Plate (1100m) at Morphettville on Saturday. “He had a good first-up run at Balaklava last month and had improved since then,” Jolly said. “Saturday’s race was a strong maiden and he looks to have a good future.”
Pistolier (3g Husson Lightning – Rossa Regina by Testa Rossa) was ridden a treat in front by stable apprentice Jake Toeroek to hold off fast closer Forever Discreet (Bernardini) and Melbourne visitor Sky Disk (Starcraft).
Jolly has rated him highly since parting with $42,000 at the 2012 Perth Magic Millions. He was part of the Warra Warra Park consignment and is from the second crop of Heytesbury Stud sire Husson Lightning.
Warra Warra Park owners Steve and Paulette Ralston have an equestrian background and they established the Harvey operation in 2010. It caters for the entire scope of stud and agistment services.
Pistolier has an unnamed 2yo half-sister by Warra Warra stallion Coconut Grove.
Coconut Grove is a 10 year-old son of Kingmambo sire King Cugat from G1 winning Zeditave filly Assertive Lass (Flight Stakes & Coolmore Classic). And he’s a three-quarter brother to G1 racehorse and sire Reset.
Tony Noonan trained to Coconut Grove to three wins in Victoria before an in-house stable transfer to Perth. He responded with a three length victory in the Carlton Fusion Hcp at Ascot (1600m) at his penultimate start before retiring to stud.
Coconut Grove has been advertised for a $2,200 (inc gst) service fee at Warra Warra Park.
