A Towkay colt from Kilgravin Lodge clocked the fastest breeze-up for the NZ Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale at Te Rapa on Monday. He ran 200 metres in 10.16s in blustery conditions on a Dead 4 surface.
Day 1 saw 191 two-year-olds going through their paces up the Te Rapa straight. With the running rail out 12 metres, the average time for the day was 10.94s.
Kilgravin Lodge’s Towkay colt is catalogued as Lot 366 and is from the Red Ransom mare Tereshkina.
Venture Thoroughbreds entrants Lot 35 (Patapan – Birdie) and Lot 288 (Statue of Liberty – Reptiles) were next best at 10.26s.
Lyndhurst Farm’s Falkirk colt catalogued as Lot 27 joined them on 10.26s. He is a half-brother to the stakes placed Mercedario (Bigstone) and Let Me Handle It (High Chaparral).
Lyndhurst Farm also sent out the Encosta de Lago half-brother to G1 winner Green Birdie (Lot 215) and the Northern Meteor colt from the family of Golden Slipper winner Polar Success (Lot 387) in 10.56s and 10.63s respectively.
Every horse had blood taken immediately after its breeze up gallop to permit screening by a purchaser against a saleday sample.
