Spendthrift Australia shuttler Warrior’s Reward (USA) hit a bullseye with another black-type winner in North America on Saturday.
His filly Strong Incentive put more than four lengths on her rivals in the LR Jammed Lovely Stakes (1400m) at Woodbine. She settled off the pace under a patient ride by Alan Garcia and then accelerated past front-runner Green Doctor at the top of the straight.
Strong Incentive was appearing for the third time after a maiden win at Saratoga and an allowance placing at Belmont Park. “She broke okay and was relaxed at the back,” said Garcia. “She was comfortable and when I asked her to go, she took off. She did it so easy and I couldn’t even pull her up.”
Warrior’s Reward’s shuttles to Spendthrift’s Victorian base in Romsey and it was his second feature in a month following Andreya’s Reward (Our Dear Peggy Stakes) at Gulfstream Park.
His latest was bred by Spendthrift Farm and made $200,000 at the 2014 Ocala 2YO Sale after breezing a bullet 9.40s. Her dam G G’s Dolly (Comic Strip) won the Prairie Rose Stakes in Iowa and her only other starter – a filly by Speightstown – is also a winner.
Trainer Chad Brown prepares Strong Incentive for successful owners Seth Klarman and Bill Lawrence. “We brought her up to Woodbine a few days before and she trained superior over the track,” assistant trainer Jason Desilets said. “We had a good feeling that she would run good and she did.”
Warrior’s Reward (Medaglia d’Oro) shuttles to Spendthrift Australia for an $11,000 (inc gst) fee or $13,750 (inc gst) as part of their Share The Upside program. He is a current Top 10 second-season stallion in North America with 44 individual winners of 69 races and prizemoney of $2.49 million.
