A well bred mare in foal to the legendary Sea The Stars topped the opening day of the Tattersalls December Mare Sale on Monday. There are seven mares in foal to the Gilltown Stud star catalogued for this week’s four-day sale and Soinlovewithyou was the first into the ring.
Soinlovewithyou (Sadler’s Wells) is a half-sister to G1 winner Duke Of Marmalade. She was consigned by Highclere Stud and made 950,000 guineas to the bid of agent Hugo Lascelles. “She has been bought for a North American breeder,” reported Lascelles. “The Sea The Stars covering was very attractive and she will visit a top USA stallion next spring.”
There was tremendous interest in the mare and one of the under-bidders was Australian agent Tim Stakemire.
Sea The Stars had his first book capped at 140 at the Aga Khan’s Gilltown Stud in County Kildare earlier this year. Soinlovewithyou was top-priced among the 161 lots that changed hands on Monday. They averaged 55,158 guineas which was down 12% from last year.
Northern Farms agent Fumihiko Nakajima secured G3 winner Belle Allure for 375,000 guineas. The Numerous mare is a sister to G1 winner Jukebox Jury and was offered in foal to Giant’s Causeway.
She will head to Japan after Nakajima secured the mare after a keen duel with New Zealand agent Guy Mulcaster.
BBA Ireland paid 340,000 guineas for Galileo mare Failte Isteach from Jim Bolger’s Redmonstown Stud. She is a sister to G1 Irish Derby winner Soldier Of Fortune and was offered in foal to G1 Dewhurst Stakes winner Intense Focus.
The Tattersalls December Mare Sale continues at 10am on Tuesday, November 30.
