Captain Sonador enhances Shamardal sireline

The Shamardal phenomenon is sweeping the world and Captain Sonador is perfectly placed to enhance the sireline at Raheen Stud.

Shamardal won’t return to Australia.  Injuries prevented him from completing full books during the last two southern seasons and he will remain on the ground at Darley’s Kildangan Stud in Ireland.

Captain Sonador blazed a trail for Shamardal who, at last count, has sired 30 stakes winners of 52 stakes races.

When he claimed the AJC Epsom Handicap at Randwick on October 2 last year, Captain Sonador became the first Shamardal to win a Group 1 against all ages.

Raheen Stud’s Basil Nolan jnr is confident Captain Sonador will also blaze a trail at stud.  “He’s the highest rated Group 1 miler to retire in Queensland since Show A Heart,” Nolan stated.  “They were both tough racehorses who excelled in the best company and we’re thrilled to stand a horse of that calibre.”

Show A Heart retired to Glenlogan Park at a $13,750 service fee and it wasn’t long before that increased to $33,000.

Captain Sonador will start his stud career at $11,000 (inc gst) and mares already booked to him include;
