Cassini leads Kiwi Resets

Darley Victoria resident Reset has sired two stakes winners so far this season – Pinker Pinker and Cassini.

Pinker Pinker tops his prizemoney list after winning the $3 million Cox Plate in October and his chief earner in New Zealand is Awapuni based mare Cassini.

Cassini (6m Reset – Mathematical by Honor Grades) won the G3 Manawatu Cup (2300m) at her home track on Saturday.  It was her second stakes result in a row after the LR Wanganui Cup (2040m) last month.

The Mark Oulaghan trained mare is pre-post favourite for the G2 City of Auckland Cup at Ellerslie on January 1.  She was beaten a head by Showcause (Giant’s Causeway) in the same event earlier this year.

Cassini is also nominated for the G2 Wellington Cup on January 28.

Bred by Doug Dean, Cassini was purchased by her owner Gail Drought from Lyndhurst Farm at the 2007 NZ Bloodstock Karaka Premier Sale for $120,000.   She has now earned almost $200,000 in stakes.

Her dam Mathematical is a half-sister to G2 Sir Tristram Classic winner Centrofold.  Her second-dam True Devotion was a G1 winner of the 1984 WA Oaks.  Mathematical’s latest foal is a colt by Darley stallion Any Given Saturday.

Reset stands at Darley Northwood Park for a $16,500 (inc gst) service fee.
