Catapulted will be given the chance to break through at Group 1 level following an awesome first up victory in the G3 Rubiton Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday.
Catapulted (5g Catbird – Siren Miss by Umatilla) collared long-time leader Reward for Effort and then surged away to boost his record to 10 wins in 19 starts.
Trainer Mark Kavanagh believes the winner is in for a nice autumn. “The Rubiton was a pretty strong field and he did it well. The Oakleigh Plate is an option but it’s a handicap and he might be better suited down the line in something else.”
Catapulted was a $90,000 graduate from the Mill Park draft at the 2007 Adelaide Magic Millions yearling sale. He has won five black-type events and was also runner-up to Velocitea in the 2010 G1 Goodwood Hcp in Adelaide.
A son of Danehill’s deceasec Golden Slipper winner Catbird, Catapulted is from a winning sister to the Perth stakes winner Umatune. The latter is the dam of the stakes performers Jestatune, Saxon Palace and Ihtsatune.
Mill Park will offer a Fastnet Rock three-quarter-sister to Catapulted (Lot 52) at the 2011 Inglis Easter yearling sale.
