Caulfield star from NZB Ready to Run Sale

NZ Bloodstock’s leader from the 2011 Ready to Run 2YO Sale produced an eye-catching win at Caulfield on Wednesday.

Demasheen (2f Fastnet Rock – Shimo Star by Centaine) was purchased for $450,000 by Justin Bahen Bloodstock on behalf of owner Phil Sly at Karaka last November.  She was a member of the Esker Lodge draft and is one of 12 juvenile winners for her sire in Australia this season.

Trained by Robert Smerdon, the daughter of Fastnet Rock looked every bit a rising talent at Caulfield.  Trapped four wide with cover at the tail, she circled the field and then cruised down the outside like a class act to score by over a length.

Demasheen came into the race fresh up after a five month spell.  She had been second on debut at Moonee Valley earlier this year before running a good fifth in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview.

Sly also part-owners Group 1 filly Mosheen (Fastnet Rock) and he could not speak highly enough of Demasheen after the Ready to Run Sale.  “She’s a stunner,” Sly declared.  “She literally ticks all the boxes – there are 11 boxes to tick on my list and she ticks all of them.  She breezed up beautifully and was very relaxed, she’s a real lady.”

Entries for NZ Bloodstock’s 2012 Ready to Run 2YO Sale will close on August 17.
