Central Park moves to Irish stud

Melbourne Cup runner-up Central Park is serving his first mares at Mount Brown Farm in Ireland this year.  He was previously based at Mickley Stud in Shropshire.

Central Park (In The Wings – Park Special by Relkino) won the 1998 Italian Derby and had the 1999 Melbourne Cup in his grasp until grabbed by Rogan Josh close to home.

The 16 year-old stallion is standing at Martin Cullinane’s Mount Brown Farm in County Galway.  His new base isn’t far from Woodlands Stud which is home to former Darley sires Moon Ballad and Grandera.

Central Park was raced by Sheikh Mohammed and his dam is a half-sister to Darley’s Dubai World Cup winner Moon Ballad (Singspiel).

Central Park hasn’t set the world on fire at stud.  He has sired 38 winners with My Central and Jane’s Park the only ones that have graduated to black-type.  My Central was a Listed winner in Rome and Milan and added a G3 in the Balanchine Stakes in Dubai before arriving in Australia.

Raced by Ultra Thoroughbreds owner Sean Buckley, My Central was placed at Sandown in four starts before retiring to stud last year.  She was covered by Undoubtedly at Three Bridges Thoroughbreds last year.
