Redoute’s Choice beat Commands to the 100 wins milestone in Australia this season. But he only had a few hours to spare on Saturday.
The Redoute’s Choice century arrived when Mailing won Race 1 at Eagle Farm on Saturday. Commands reached three figures a few hours later with Commander Boltz in Race 7 at Toowoomba on Saturday night.
The Arrowfield champion stretched the advantage when Blather (Sunshine Coast) and Engineered (Horsham) saluted on Sunday and he added the beautifully bred Checks (Bairnsdale) on Monday.
Checks (4g Redoute’s Choice – Leica Or Not by Kendor) is a homebred for Wood Nook Farm owners Bob and Rosemary Scarborough. He was resuming from a 30 week spell to win the Whelans Earthmoving Maiden Plate (1200m) at Bairnsdale.
The Mick Price trained gelding was placed at Bendigo and Seymour at his only other starts in May.
His dam Leica Or Not has been also foaled G1 NZ Derby winner Leica Guv (Deputy Governor) and G1 Australian Guineas winner Light Fantastic (Danehill Dancer).
The Leica family is one of the best known in the Australian Stud Book and it has nicked nicely with the Danehill sireline producing Nothin’ Leica Dane (Danehill), Duelled (Redoute’s Choice) and more recently Eclair Mystic (Stratum).
Leica or Not missed for three years after foaling Checks but she rewarded the Scarboroughs with a Bel Esprit filly in September.
The Nagambie couple have enjoyed a winning run with Redoute’s Choice this season. Their filly Hurriyet, a sister to Samantha Miss, broke her maiden at Seymour and was then runner-up in the LR Morphettville Guineas.
They also race his recent Murray Bridge Cup winner War Ends in a partnership with Yarradale Stud owner Ron Sayers.
Apart from the wins category, Redoute’s Choice also leads the Australian premiership where it counts with $4.49 million in prizemoney. Fastnet Rock is next best on $4.05 million.
