Champion sire Big Shuffle succumbs to leg injury

Champion German stallion Big Shuffle has died from leg injuries sustained at Gestuet Auenquelle.  He was aged 25.

“We had taken him to the University of Hanover but they couldn’t save him,” Gestuet Auenquelle owner Karl-Dieter Ellerbracke said.  “He was a champion sire in all divisions, even with jumps horses.”

Big Shuffle (Super Concorde – Raise Your Skirts by Elevation) was bred by Moyglare Stud and was trained by Dermot Weld to win the Cork And Orrery Stakes, Tetrarch Stakes and Greenlands Stakes.  He was also G1 placed behind Soviet Star in the July Cup and Salse in the Prix de la Foret.

Big Shuffle’s was Germany’s champion sire on four occasions and his best progeny included the Group winners Abbadjinn, Agnetha, Auenklang, Konig Turf, Peppercorn, Pepperstorm, Precious Boy, Smooth Operator and Pomellato.
