Coolmore Stud champions So You Think (NZ), Pierro (Aus) and Excelebration (Ire) are set to cover a stellar cast of mares in the Hunter Valley this year.
“I firmly believe that these young horses are the beginning of something really special,” Coolmore Australia’s Michael Kirwan declared. “We’ve had a series of champion sires but this trio are capable of guaranteeing that success well into the future.
“I can’t recall a young sire ever being supported in the manner that So You Think was last season – mares carrying his first foals include 18 Group 1 winners or producers as well as a number of other top-class mares from the majority of the best breeders in the country.
“He’s being very well supported again this year and Dato Tan Chin Nam will be breeding a host of fantastic mares to him including Faint Perfume and Think Money.
“Irish Lights, Indian Ocean, Paprika, Larrocha and Happy Heart are among the mares that we will be breeding to Pierro. Many of the best breeders have been prepared to commit quality race fillies like Arctic Flight, Majestic Music, Hurtle Myrtle, Gai’s Choice, Carribean Sunset, Satin Shoes, Risk Aversion, Spirit Song and Upon This Rock to him.
“Pierro was an exceptional racehorse and is a fantastic looking horse, so I expect that he will serve Australian breeders very well both now and into the future.
“I’m very much looking forward to people seeing Excelebration at our stallion parade in a few week’s time. He’s a very good looking horse with the profile and physique to appeal to the Australian market. And the fact that people like John Muir, Tony Bott, Catherine Remond, Greg White, John Hutchins, Ray Willis and Robert McClure are sending good mares to him is going to ensure that he gets a great start.”
