Charlestown debuts for Myboycharlie

Vinery freshman Myboycharlie is scheduled to have his first starter when Charlestown debuts in Race 1 at Wanganui on Saturday morning (10.10 AEDT).

Charlestown (2c Myboycharlie – Princess Carolina by More Than Ready) is trained by Lisa Latta and was an impressive trial winner at Foxton earlier this month.  The Awapuni based colt was a $65,000 buy from Westbury Stud at the 2012 NZB Karaka yearling sale.

Charlestown is from a winning sister to former star juvenile Readyforcatherine who was trained by Lee Freedman.  She won an early-season juvenile on debut at Bendigo and also claimed the $100,000 Blue Sapphire Classic at Sandown the following autumn.

Myboycharlie maintained his popularity at the Tattersalls October yearlings sale this week with a colt that made 160,000gns (AUD 260,965) on Wednesday.

Coolmore Stud agent Demi O’Byrne saw off several challenges for the half-brother to Choose Your Moment (Choisir) who has won four races in Europe and Hong Kong topped by a Listed victory in the Pomfret Stakes.

Manister House Stud offered the Myboycharlie – Time Will Show colt after buying him for 43,000gns as a foal.  “He’s a very special horse,” Manister House owner Luke Barry said.  “He looked like a racehorse and I hope he produces it on the racecourse for the people that bought him.

“There was a lot of action on him, so we were hopeful, but you never know what’s going to happen until the hammer falls.  We’re delighted.”

Earlier in the week at Tattersalls, a Myboycharlie – Lauren Louise colt made 135,000 (AUD 220,190) to the bid of Highfield Farm.  The youngster received a timely update when his older half-brother Blaine (Avonbridge) won the G2 Gimcrack Stakes at York in August.

Myboycharlie (Danetime) was Champion French 2YO in 2007 and Vinery is standing him for a ($8,800 inc gst) service fee.
