Choistar will join the Clear Mountain Fairview roster for the 2011 breeding season. The only son of Choisir to stand in Queensland, Choistar was a five-length winner of the Listed AJC Fernhill Handicap at Randwick.
During Choistar’s racing career, he defeated Group 1 winners Shoot Out and Captain Sonador and was runner-up to Carrara, Onemorenomore, Tickets, Manhattan Rain and Graceful Anna in Group company.
His career was cut short after being galloped on in the Magic Millions 3YO Trophy won by Graceful Anna.
“Choistar competed with the best juveniles of his era and was always right in the finish,” Clear Mountain Fairview stud manager Mick Frappell said. “He was versatile and tough and has developed into a strong, attractive stallion.
“We believe he is ready made for Queensland mare owners who want to breed early maturing progeny and have a crack at the QTIS prizemoney.”
Choistar (4h Choisir – Sveldte by Star Watch) is an ideal sire for any mare as he is well-muscled, correct legs with a lovely temperament. He’s bred 4 x 4 to Biscay.
Choistar’s dam Sveldte won at Randwick and her other winners include Flemington juvenile stakes performer Smooth Groove (Fasliyev). Second dam Fresco (Shirley Heights) is a winning half-sister to Free Fact (Known Fact), a Listed winner of the Haydock Summer Trophy.
Choisir has been an outstanding shuttle success for Coolmore Stud siring 401 individual winners in 25 countries headed by Starspangledbanner. They have arrived at a 59% strike-rate and he’s about to pass another milestone with a win count that currently stands at 996.
Choistar will stand at a $4,400 fee in 2011. The Clear Mountain Fairview roster also includes Outback Prince ($11,000), Tycoon Ruler ($4,400) and Zaha ($6,600). All fees inc gst.
