Classic sting on Bossdon City

The Brett Cavanough stable pulled off a well orchestrated plunge as Bossdon City made an impressive winning debut at Rosehill on Saturday.

Bossdon City (2g Beautiful Crown – Midnight Secret by Danzero)) was the medium of a sting that saw his price tumble from $11 into $5.  The money proved spot on when the gelding showed a nice turn of foot at the top of the straight to win The Races Hcp (1100m).

He scored a convincing three-quarter length victory over Godspeed (Redoute’s Choice).  The runner-up was the top-priced ($1,875,000) Inglis Easter yearling last year.

Cavanough secured Bossdon City out of the Wimmera Park draft at last year’s Inglis Classic sale.  His sire Beautiful Crown has been a great advertisement for the Classic Sale over the years.  His graduates include G1 Caulfield Guineas winner In Top Swing ($50,000).

Beautiful Crown has 9 yearlings catalogued for this year’s Classic Sale from January 23 – 25.  He originally stood at Baerami Thoroughbreds but is now based at Patinack Farm for a $16,500 service fee.

Inglis graduates made a clean sweep of the juvenile races in Sydney and Melbourne on Saturday.  At Rosehill, Hollyweird (Snitzel) won the Winning Post Restaurant Hcp (1100m) for Gerald Ryan.  She was a $140,000 buy out of the Arrowfield Stud draft at the 2010 Melbourne Premier yearling sale.

At Flemington, Helping Hand (Fusaichi Pegasus) landed the Beyond Better Plate for Patinack Farm trainer John Thompson.  She was sold by Princes Farm for $160,000 at the 2010 Easter yearling sale.  She is a half-sister to Patinack’s Group 1 placed mare No Evidence Needed.
