Classy buys from Tattersalls & Deauville

Sheamus Mills Bloodstock (FBAA) is among several Australian buyers returning home with mares purchased at the Tattersalls Sale in the last week of November and Arqana Sale that concluded on Tuesday.

SMB purchased Arabian Night (Oasis Dream) and Quest For Wonder (Makfi) for a total of 82,000gns (AUD 145,967) on behalf of clients at Tattersalls.  “It was tough going with all the quality bloodstock offered through the ring,” Mills said.  “But we picked up a couple of classy acts.”

Arabian Night (GB) was trained by John Gosden and is a half-sister to Group 2 Aqueduct winner Olaya (Theatrical).  Their dam Solaia (USA) won the LR Cheshire Oaks.

Quest For Wonder (GB) won four races before signing off with an Epsom Downs victory over 2000m.  Her dam is a half-sister to English-Irish Derby winner Sinndiya.

Moving on to Deauville, SMB purchased Museo (Teofilo) for €85,000 (AUD 122,405) on behalf of Highgrove Stud owner Ron Gilbert.

Museo (GB) was bred by Darley and is out of Saint-Cloud stakes winner Historian (Pennekamp).  “She’s a good sort from the family of Street Cry & Shamardal,” Mills said.  “Ron breeds Easter-quality colts that are potential stallions and he was very keen to get her.”

The Deauville sale started just hours after Tykiato maintained her unbeaten record this season for trainer John Price.  The speedy mare had won first up at Mornington and clocked a track-record 56.41s for 1000m at Pakenham’s metro meeting on Saturday

Tykiato (Written Tycoon) was bred by SMB client Rob Harding and there’s black-type throughout her pedigree going back to Group 1 champion Pebbles (G1 BC Turf & G1 English 1000 Guineas).

I’ll Fly Away (Ire) is also gunning for her fourth win in 5 Australian starts at Moonee Valley this Friday night.  The Galileo mare was purchased privately in Europe by Mills and Mick Malone (Kitchwin Hills) for owner Neil Werritt.
