Queensland based sire Kenfair has died of natural causes aged 21 at Clear Mountain Fairview Stud.
Kenfair (Kenmare – Market Fair by Biscay) was from a sister to Marscay and won the G2 Silver Slipper Stakes and G3 Skyline Stakes before finishing fourth in the 1992 Golden Slipper won by Burst.
Prepared by Max Wiggins, he trained on as a three-year-old to claim the G3 VRC Hilton on the Park Stakes at Flemington.
Kenfair retired to stud in New Zealand in 1993 before arriving at Clear Mountain Fairview in 1999. Among his stakes winners were Irish Rollover, Ad Alta, City Fair, Kengrande, Lady of the Turf, Leeza, Rocky Point, She’s Country and St Kentigern.
To date, Kenfair has sired 183 winners of 499 races at a 54% strike-rate. He is the broodmare sire of stakes winners Rangirangdoo, Ilovethiscity and She Rules.
