Colic claims Bullarook Park sire King de Lago

Victorian based stud Bullarook Park suffered its second setback in recent months with the death of King de Lago.  He succumbed to a sudden and severe colic attack according to Gary Ashmore who stood the chestnut at the Avenel nursery.

Bullarook Park owner Malcolm Boyd lost Murphy’s Blu Boy (Blu Tusmani) in December.  The former headline colt had covered 45 mares in his first book since arriving from Baerami Thoroughbreds in NSW.

King de Lago (9h Encosta de Lago – Ranch Lady by Rancher) cost $145,000 at the 2003 Gold Coast Magic Millions but he was injured and retired without racing..  His older half-brother Ventura (Flotilla) was a G3 winner of the 1997 Tasmanian Derby.

King de Lago’s oldest runners are four year-olds and he has sired 6 winners from 34 starters.
