Coll And Tiree completes hat-trick for Toy Pindarri

Coll And Tiree completed a winning hat-trick for former Greta West stalwart Toy Pindarri in May.

Starting with a maiden win over 1400m at the Warrnambool carnival, Coll And Tiree stretched out to win at Seymour (1600m) and Casterton (2000m) and he will attempt to make it four in a row at Swan Hill over 2100m on June 12.

Toy Pindarri (NZ) covered his last full book in 2004 and his runners are beginning to thin out.  The grey stallion sired 323 individual winners during a long career at Greta West and his winning strike rate is a phenomenal 68%.

Coll And Tiree (5g Toy Pindarri – Daughter Of Ross by Opera Prince) is a full brother to the winners Loch Carron, Latest Toy, Loch Gairloch and Loch Fleet.  All five were bred and raced by Warren and Lynne McCullagh and trained by Kath Durden at Geelong.

“Coll And Tiree had a few setbacks but he’s going extra well now,” Durden said.  “He was caught wide at Casterton and was still travelling stronger than anything else on the line.”

Durden has nominated him for the Super VOBIS Stayers Challenge Final at Swan Hill on Sunday week.

Andrew Mallyon has partnered the Coll And Tiree in all bar one of his six starts and is keen to continue their association.

“He appreciates the give in the ground at this time of year,” Mallyon explained.  “He was just a big baby before he began putting it all together at Warrnambool.

“He’s gone from strength-to-strength since then and might make a nice horse.”
