Darley champion Commands created an Australian record for winners when he sired a double at Ipswich on Friday.

Commands equalled Encosta de Lago’s previous record of 147 individual winners when Commanding Lass won the Greater Springfield 3YO Maiden (1350m) by a nose.

Commanding Lass (3f Commands – Rivetting Lass by Rivotious) is part-owned and trained locally by Brett Sturgess. 

Commands set a new mark of 148 following the win of Andthebandplayedon in the Crimsafe Blinds Maiden (1200m).  The 148 winners have won a total of 254 races at a 46% strike-rate.

Andthebandplayedon (4g Commands – Orchestrations by Palace Music) is trained by Dale Sutton and he won by a half-length in the Wadham Park colours.

Commands captured his first premiership with 143 individual winners in 2009-10.  He had been runner-up to Encosta de Lago in 2007-08 and 2008-09.  The Coolmore champion claimed his PB of 147 in 2008-09.
