Congrats in focus at Ocala Winter Sale

Vinery Kentucky sire Congrats topped Day 1 of the Ocala Winter Sale and he was back on the leader board during Day 2 of the Florida Sale on Wednesday.

Congrats (A P Indy) was North America’s Champion first-season sire in 2010 and his yearling colt from Toasttofriendship (Salt Lake) led the opening session at $100,000.

Mares in foal to Congrats were also popular on Wednesday with Trisha (Forest Camp) topping proceedings at $47,000.  She is carrying a PPT on an April 13 cover and was sold to Michael Sucher.

Going Away Blues (Cure the Blues) is also in foal to Congrats and she was sold to Antoine Douaihy for $30,000.  Both mares were consigned by Summerfield Stud’s Francis and Barbara Vanlangendonck.

A total of 191 horses grossed $916,600 on Day 2.  The average of $4,800 was up 28% compared to last year’s corresponding session.

Next on the Ocala Breeders schedule is the March Selected 2YO Sale on March 15 & 16.  It will follow the Ocala Day of Champions race meeting on March 14.
