Denise Martin and her Star Thoroughbreds partners struck with a vengeance in the Tasmanian Yearling Sale 3YO Classic (1200m) on Wednesday.
Conquestador (3g West Quest – Entally by Jetball) carried Martin’s successful purple and white silks to a half-neck victory over Lost Island (Helike) in Launceston. The winner is prepared by Martin’s brother-in-law Barry Campbell at Spreyton.
“He won very well and we will back him up on Launceston Cup day,” Campbell said. “I still think he’s six months away and will make a nice horse next year.”
A son of Tasmania’s champion sire West Quest, Conquestador is the fourth winner from Entally. Her winners include the stakes performers Reunification (West Quest) and National Trust (Savoire Vivre).
Conquestador was a $60,000 graduate of the 2010 Tasmanian Magic Millions. His dam Entally died in February 2010 shortly after foaling a West Quest filly.
